  • Mihály Simai, Acedemician– Hungarian Academy of Sciences: The responses of the higher educational systems to the new global challenges: looking forward to the coming decades
  • Maria Slowey, Dublin City University:Achieving Sustainable Development Goals for education by 2030 presents a ‘major challenge for all countries’ (OECD 2016). At a time when it is estimated that in many countries at least half of young people aged under 25 will enter higher education, what are the implications of increasing intergenerational equality gaps with the wider adult population? Drawing on comparative analysis of lifelong learners and higher education across fourteen countries, this paper explores the ways in which universities and other institutions of higher education are adapting-or, not- to meet the needs of adult learners at different stages of the lifecourse.
