Welcome to the winter edition of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) newsletter. 

We are delighted to share with you the recent activities and events that demonstrate the progress and dynamism of the network, including a visit by mayors from the Republic of Korea to UNESCO learning cities in Germany and France and the key messages arising from the side event, ‘Greening TVET, adult learning and education’ organised by UIL at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27). In addition, we share information about the upcoming International Day of Education, which we hope you will celebrate with us.

Dear Reader,

The past year has been a decisive one for the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL). Together with the Kingdom of Morocco, the Institute organized the landmark Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII) in June 2022, wherein over 140 UNESCO Member States from across the globe committed to making adult learning and education a reality for all.

This year also marked UIL’s 70th anniversary. As part of the two-day celebration, the Institute showcased its achievements over the past seven decades and affirmed its objective to promote the intrinsicality of lifelong learning for solving some of our greatest global challenges. 

I wish to personally thank you for your continued engagement with, interest in and support of UIL’s work in 2022, and I look forward to working with you to advance lifelong learning for all in 2023.

On 24 January, the final conference of the #DIGIHE_EU project will explore the key findings and unanswered questions which have emerged from the project’s activities. Megjelent a PIMA – Felnőttoktatási Hálózat folyóiratának legújabb, 45. tematikus száma, mely az ún. Life Deep Learning témával foglalkozik azzal a céllal, hogy feltáruljon a felnőttoktatás és -képzés iránt érdeklődők számára annak az izgalmas és magával ragadó szakmának a világa, mely a felnőttoktatói professziót rejti.

A PIMA Hálózat egy olyan globális platform, mely lehetőséget nyújt a felnőttoktatás és a folyamatos, életen át tartó tanulás megvalósításában kulcsszerepet játszó képző, oktató, facilitátor/aktivista és kutató/elemző szakemberek számára, hogy eszmét cseréljenek a maguk humanizáló, segítő attitűdjükre, valamint szakmai tapasztaltaikra támaszkodva. A PIMA hálózat tehát olyan tematikus gondolatcserét ösztönöz, mely a felnőttképzés és felnőttkori tanulás aktuális kihívásaira reflektál. 

A PUMA Bulletin. 45. tematikus számának life deep learning orientációja tudatos témaválasztás révén összeterelt a világból néhány karakteres felnőttoktató-személyiséget, hogy valljanak saját szakmai életútjukról, arról hogy milyen indíttatásból és miért váltak felnőttképzőkké, vagy miért épp e terület fejlesztésére adták a fejüket, kik inspirálták őket, sőt hogy milyen élmények fonalán jutottak el céljaik megvalósításához, vagy legalábbis közel azokhoz.

A tizenhárom képző és kutató szakember vallomása egyúttal kordokumentum, mely pontosan jelzi, hogy milyen átalakuláson megy keresztül a felnőttoktatás és -képzés, milyen politikai, gazdasági és társadalmi jelenségek kísérik annak evolúcióját. A tizenhárom önreflexió ugyanakkor mélyen inspiráló is lehet, különös tekintettel annak vonatkozásában, hogy a humanizáló példák mögött mindig felsejlik az érzékeny, a problémák mellett nem elhaladó, hanem az azokat megoldani kívánó, reflexív, pro-aktív magatartás lokális elköteleződéssel, mégis világlátással.

Izgalmas olvasni Rajesh Tandon, Ana Krajnc, Sturla Bjerkaker, v. éppen Norman Longworth gondolatait saját pályájukról. Számos tanulság és értékes reflexió ismerhető így meg, és egy kicsit ezekben magunkra is ismerhetünk. 

Érdemes volna ennek okán egy hazai változatot és elkészíteni. Nekünk addig is Durkó, Maróti, Csoma, Lada, Harangi, Sz. Tóth, Koltai és mások útja ad inspirációkat.
