Newsletter for European Research in Learning and Work (L&W Newsletter)

Dear Colleague

I have had the pleasure of sending you the Newsletter for European Research in Learning and Work (L&W Newsletter). Your email address is included in the L&W mailing list run by the Research Forum WIFO. According to new rules (see Data Protection), we need to ask you to confirm whether or not you wish to remain on this list.

The L&W mailing list is used only for posting the bi-monthly L&W Newsletter. It includes calls for papers and updates on European conferences, network events, publications and projects (see L&W Newsletter). Your contact details are stored securely by WIFO and are not shared with third parties.

If you are happy to continue receiving the L&W Newsletter, please return this email to the address above (sabine.manning@wifo.b.shuttle.de), but without adding any text. If you choose NOT to remain on the L&W list, please just ignore this message (without returning it!). Your email address will then be deleted.

It would be helpful to have your confirmation by 31 May 2018 – before the next L&W Newsletter appears!

Many thanks!!

Best wishes

Sabine Manning

Editor of the L&W Newsletter

NECE – Networking European Citizenship Education – Conference
„Brave New Worlds?! The Future of Democracy and Citizenship Education”

6-9 September 2018, Marseille (France)
Location: Friche La Belle de Mai (41 Rue Jobin, 13003 Marseillewww.lafriche.org)

Online registration for the NECE 2018 conference in Marseille is open now! Please register for the conference here: ONLINE REGISTRATION

Our conference will provide an international platform for the development of strategies on how citizenship education and civil society can counter the negative trend in liberal democracy and defend the civic space and basic democratic rights and freedoms in our societies. Initiatives from Marseille and other regions of France will inform about  the political and social challenges of citizenship education in their country. Scholars, practitioners and activists from all over Europe and its eastern and southern neighbors will meet to discuss the value of citizenship education as an indispensable subject for democracies in the 21st century.

Confirmed speakers include Niccolò Milanese, Jan-Werner Müller, Vincent Hendricks, Basil Kerski, Claire Demesmay, Edit Inotai, Istvan Hegedüs, Karolina Wigura, Alberto Alemanno and Fernando Vallespin. Emily O’Reilly, the European Ombudswoman, will speak about citizens’ rights and democracy in the European Union.

NECE is open for citizenship educators, activists and students from Europe and North Africa as well as for the public of Marseille, French educators and civil society organisations. Conference participation is free of charge. The conference venue Friche La Belle de Mai, a public space in the centre of Marseille, offers a framework for a “festival” of networking, dialogue and inspiration.
