Here is a link to a webinar:  Investigating participation in adult learning and education: but how is it measured? being organised by my colleague Professor Ellen Boeren on !3 March at 1200 GMT. It should be of interest to many of you interested in national policies. Please other RN co-ordinators pass this onto your networks

This webinar will present the audience to the ALE policies project, funded by the ESRC. The overall aim of the project is to investigate the knowledge base on adult education in the UK and Ireland, how participation has fluctuated over the past 25 years and how policy-makers use adult education data to feed into their policy processes. The webinar to take place on 13 March 2024 will introduce the audience to our review of survey programmes that include data on adult education issues. We will discuss differences in measurement and conceptualisation of adult education, drawing on insights from codebooks and questionnaires from the Learning & Work Institute’s Adult Participation in Learning survey, the OECD’s Programme for in International Assessment of Adult Competencies, the Eurostat Adult Education Survey and the Labour Force Survey. Throughout the presentation, we will investigate to what extent differences in methodologies and conceptual underpinnings lead to similar or different insights in the determinants of participation. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session with the project’s team members from the University of Glasgow, the University of Nottingham and the Learning & Work Institute.

2024. február 5–16. között zajlik a Julius-Maximilians University Würzburg szervezésében az immáron 11. nemzetközi Felnőttoktatási Akadémia (AdultEducation Academy-2024), melynek keretében kilenc európai, két nigériai és egy indiai egyetem mesterszakos és doktorandusz hallgatója, továbbá felnőttképzési kutatóhelyek és fejlesztő központok (DVV International) gyakorló szakemberei folytatnak eszmecserét, elemzik a felnőttkori tanulás trendjeit. 

A programban résztvevő hallgatók tematikus munkacsoportokban vizsgálják a felnőttek tanulását és oktatását meghatározó tényezőket összehasonlító kutatási módszerekkel, melynek eredményeként csoportos prezentációkat tartanak, szakmai szövegeket elemeznek és nemzetközi szakmai szervezetek képviselőinek (pl. ICAE, EAEA, UIL, LLLP), valamint nemzeti felnőttképzési intézetek (pl. DIE)  vezető munkatársainak előadásait hallgatják meg.

Ugyanakkor a program második hetében a résztvevő felnőttképzési szakemberek rövid prezentációkkal demonstrálják saját nemzeti közösségeikben zajló felnőtt-tanulási innovatív gyakorlataikat, melynek révén fejlesztik a zömmel sérülékeny társadalmi csoportok felnőttjeinek készségeit, bővítik tudásukat, ezzel is hozzájárulva közösségeik formálásához, vagy akár ezen felnőttek foglalkoztatásához.

A Felnőttoktatási Akadémia programját közösen alakították ki 2023. tavaszán és a résztvevő hallgatókat, továbbá gyakorló szakembereket delegáló partnerek, hogy integratív módon minden olyan kurrens kutatási témát befogadjanak, ezzel vizsgálódás tárgyává tegyék, amelyek kutatási és fejlesztési kérdéseket vetnek fel úgy a tanulási részvétel, mind a teljesítmények tekintetében.

Az idei munkacsoport témák:

• Trajectories of women’s career in Higher Education/ A női karrier-fejlesztés útjai a felsőoktatásban;
• Transitions from Sectors of Adult Education to Systems of Lifelong Learning/Átmenet a felnőttképzés szektorokból a lifelong learning rendszerekbe;
• Adult education for active democratic citizenship/ Felnőttoktatás és aktív demokratikus állampolgárság;
• Adult learning and education and logics of action: adult educators initial higher education paths/Felnőttoktatás és a cselekvés logikája: a felnőttképzők alapképzésének útjai a felsőoktatásban
• Competences for Active ageing – Life Skills, professional bio, professionalization/ Az aktív idősödés kompetenciái – életvezetési készségek, szakmai életrajzok és szakmásodás;
• Citizenship Education (CE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in a lifelong learning perspective: arguments, examples and experiences/Állampolgári nevelés és  fenntartható fejlesztésre nevelés a lifelong learning nézőpontból: viták, példák és tapasztalatok;
• Digitalisation in adult education and learning/Digitalizáció a felnőttképzésben;
• Adult education policies and gender equality: women in STEM education/Felnőttképzési szakpolitikák a nemek közötti egyenlő esélyek tükrében: Nők az ún. STEM-oktatásban (STEM – tudomány-technológia-mérnöki ismeretek – matematika);
• Adult learning and education for all?! Issues of inclusion with regard to disability in the limelight/ Felnőttkori tanulás mindenkinek? Reflektorfényben a hátrányos helyzetre fókuszáló befogadás-probléma kérdései.         

A würzburgi Felnőttoktatási Akadémia doktorandusz hallgatói az egyes tematikus csoportok témáihoz illeszkedően témavezetőikkel közös tanulmányokat is készítenek, amelyeket 2024. év végén a Firenzei Egyetem felnőttképzés könyvsorozatában jelentetnek meg!
